It has guided almost 30 years of health and safety work. I want everyone who comes to work to go home healthy and live their life fully away from the job. I also want the environment around us protected.

A value, not a priority
Priorities change from week to week. Values don't get traded away.
I don't treat safety as a priority. I help organizations make safety a value that doesn't get traded away.
I do that through three connected parts: Care, Culture and Compliance.
01 · Care
Where care began
I learned about safety before I ever had a job title. My dad drove a gas tanker for a living. Every year he won the Safe Driver Award, and he was proud of it. Around our house, driving safely was simply how you lived.
I didn't think much about it back then. Looking back, it showed me what safety really is.
It isn't a rulebook. It's pride, and it's care for yourself, your family and the people you share the road with.
Care is where everything starts. Leaders who truly care about their people build safety into everything they do.
02 · Culture
How culture is built
You build safety culture through relationships. You can't order it into place.
Earning trust on the floor
Early in my career, I worked with senior operators to write Standard Operating Procedures and Safe Work Practices. I kept hearing the same thing: "We've done it this way for 30 years. You can't make it safer."
I didn't argue with them. I built relationships instead. One veteran operator went from doubting the process to writing the procedures with me, and then started changing how the people around him thought about safety.
80%
Shared ownership
Later I built a safety program at a site where safety wasn't a priority. My plan was simple: get as many people involved as possible, from management and supervisors to front-line workers.
In the end, 80% of the workforce was on teams that shaped day-to-day safety on the production floor. Safety stopped being "the safety guy's job." It became everyone's job, and that's why the results lasted.
Influence at the top
At a larger organization, I worked with senior leaders to help them see safety as a value, not a priority.
Once safety is a value, it isn't up for negotiation. It shapes behaviour, drives proactive decisions and becomes part of how the business runs.
03 · Compliance
Compliance that actually works
I know Ontario's OHSA, its regulations, ISO 45001 and the requirements that keep organizations legal and protected. Compliance matters, but it's the minimum. It isn't the goal.
When care and culture are in place, compliance stops being a fire drill.
Policies get followed because people believe in them.
Procedures work because the people doing the job helped write them.
Audits confirm the work instead of exposing gaps.
In my corporate roles, I saw this in the numbers. Proactive and reactive metrics improved, and safety surveys showed the message was reaching people and sticking.
Why I built 20-20 HSE Consulting
Their people deserve the same protection.
Large corporations have safety departments, budgets and dedicated teams. Small and medium-sized businesses usually don't. Yet their people deserve the same protection, and their leaders deserve the same chance to build something great.
That realization is why I started 20-20 HSE Consulting. I bring the tools, systems and guidance that I've seen work in large organizations, scaled to fit your business.
What I believe
I believe you deserve to lead an organization that truly cares for its people and the environment.
I'm committed to helping leaders reach their full potential and build lasting success in workplace health, safety and the environment, through engagement and care, until safety becomes a true value.
Some of the most rewarding work I've done is watching leaders change. They stop focusing only on the numbers and start caring about their people. The numbers usually follow.
